Win A Trip to Washington, D.C.
Each year, the students who attend the Youth Energy Camp compete to win a trip to Washington, D.C. Three campers will have the honor of being selected by their peers to serve as Nebraska's ambassadors to the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association's
(NRECA) Rural Electric Youth Tour held each June in Washington, D.C. The top female and male vote-getters and the third highest vote-getter will represent the
NREA.
Additionally, the member-systems my sponsor a youth to attend the Youth Tour. Starting in 2001, Wheat Belt PPD has sponored local youth, who attended YEC, to participate in the Youth Tour.
While on the Youth Tour, students have the opportunity to be selected for the
Youth Leadership Council. Each state interviews the students they send, and selects one of the students to be on the Council.
